Where is the market for 2010? B-to-B and internet marketing!

Recently Google and research firm OTX produced a study that showed 59% of companies cut their marketing budgets for 2010.  We all know that budget cuts mean usually mean traditional marketing took a big hit.  With today’s internet world you can connect to more with less.  Having your company with an effective social media connection and a strong email / PPC campaign will show you great results then traditional print.

If you are not looking into SEO, PPC and Social media marketing you are already running 3 or 4th in line for your next opportunity.

Well its about time.

I am tired of these companies using Internet Explorer 6 due to lazey ass tech on site.  All the rumors of IE 7 or 8 unsafe or the crazy point that Firefox is trash finally get suoppert from Google.

In order to continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features and performance, we are harnessing some of the latest improvements in web browser technology.  This includes faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5.  As a result, over the course of 2010, we will be phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers.

We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010.  After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.

Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above.

Starting this week, users on these older browsers will see a message in Google Docs and the Google Sites editor explaining this change and asking them to upgrade their browser.  We will also alert you again closer to March 1 to remind you of this change.

So in a nut shell if you are a tech at a company and you still dotn want to move all your computers from a 11yr old platform you deate/excuses are weeeek!

Keep you eye on your keywords over the next few months.  We uncovered a few isolated incidents were local businesses started appearing for national organic  keyword results (test completed in Indiana and also Columbus Ohio).  These sites were not in the top 100 and now number 2 or 3 in the organic section.   To try the test type “ford automotive” in your Google search.

Well for all of you asking the question is Bing for Real? The answer got a lot simpler – last night Yahoo’s announcement  a 10-year deal with Microsoft making Bing the Search platform for both companies!

PCWolrd had a great breakdown the future situation.  Here are the main items of concern as for your company….

• Bing will be the exclusive algorithmic search and paid search platform for Yahoo!
• The term is for 10yrs
• It could take up to 2 years to get completed (still needs regulatory approval).

What does this mean to your site?  You need to make sure your SEO is set up for Bing  and do it NOW!
